2023 Nissan Frontier Overview

What's New for the 2023 Nissan Frontier?

The Nissan Frontier has a new special edition for the 2023 model year. The Midnight Edition adds black wheels, a black-gloss grill area, and a black lower fascia to the Nissan Frontier for a bold look.

For the 2023 model year, the Frontier also has a new safety feature: a driver attentiveness alert. The Frontier can save up to five faces and determine if the driver is looking at the road and if their face is drooping. If either is the case, an alert is triggered to get the driver back in focus on the road.

The SV trim model convenience package was also added to the standard SV trim model in the version of the Frontier with the long bed and the crew cab, providing more standard features for the trim model, such as heated front seats, a cleat, and rail system for the cargo bed, a bed liner, and cargo bed lighting.

Performance

The Nissan Frontier has a 310-horsepower V6 engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission in every trim model. The transmission has very smooth shifting to aid in acceleration. The V6 delivers up to 24 miles per gallon on the highway. You can choose two- or four-wheel drive for every trim model. Four-wheel drive is a two-speed transfer case with low and high modes. Low mode is for slower off-road or snow-covered road travel, especially when roads are steep. The transfer switch can be shifted on the fly. Four-wheel drive also comes standard with front tow hooks and a limited-slip feature that detects if a wheel is slipping and provides more torque to the other wheels.

Nissan also has beefy leaf-spring suspension and a fully boxed ladder frame that adds torsional rigidity for better towing, hauling, and off-road pursuits. The towing capacity is 6,720 pounds, and the hauling capacity is 1,610 pounds. Features that aid trailering include trailer sway control to help you manage in high winds, as well as an available 360-degree camera with guidelines and a tow/haul drive mode that helps the Frontier have a more controlled descent when towing down steep grades.

Interior/Exterior

The Nissan Frontier comes with a four-door crew cab capable of seating five passengers or a two-door extended cab. You get a long bed with the extended cab or a five-foot or six-foot bed with the crew cab. There are available features for the cargo bed that include a spray-on bed liner, a bed light, a 120-volt electrical outlet, and an advanced channel and cleat system that helps to securely stabilize items on the bed.

Nissan's "Zero Gravity" seating is designed to be comfortable for long-haul driving. You can add leather seating, heated front seats, and a powered moonroof for your drives.

Technology & Safety

The Nissan Frontier has a large multimedia screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration comes standard. Remote starting, wireless charging, navigation services, and a Wi-Fi hotspot are also available features.

The Nissan Frontier comes standard with a frontal collision warning, frontal collision automated braking, as well as a pedestrian collision warning and automatic braking.

Other available safety features include:

  • Blind-spot warning
  • Intelligent cruise control
  • Rear automatic braking
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
